Aivastark vs Botpress

Both answer customers with AI on a website and in messaging apps. The difference is how much you build: Botpress is a platform for building agents, in a visual Studio or in TypeScript, while Aivastark is a support agent you set up by pointing it at your website and files. That difference shows in the setup time and in the bill.

In fairness

Where Botpress is the better choice

Stated plainly, because a comparison that wins every row is an advert.

  • Developer depth: a visual Studio, JavaScript code cards that call external APIs, a TypeScript agent kit, and an SDK for publishing your own integrations to its hub.

  • It can sit on top of the helpdesk you already have: it connects to Zendesk or Intercom by OAuth, with no migration.

  • Unlimited AI agents on every paid plan, and unlimited seats on Team.

  • Scale and track record: 750K AI agents built on it and over 1M users in 180+ countries, per its homepage, which also says it is SOC II certified and GDPR compliant.

  • Voice agents with call routing on Enterprise; Aivastark doesn't answer phone calls.

  • Enterprise options Aivastark doesn't offer, such as bringing your own LLM and zero data retention.

01

Building an agent, or pointing one at your site

Botpress is a platform for building conversational agents: you design flows in its visual Studio, add code cards that call your APIs, or write the agent in TypeScript with its agent kit, then deploy it to webchat, WhatsApp and the channels in its hub. That is a strength if you have developers and an unusual process to automate.

Aivastark is a finished support agent. You point it at your website, files and FAQs and it answers from them; its tools (booking, Shopify, your own MCP servers and API lookups) are switched on rather than built, from Starter. With handoff switched on (Solo and up), it passes the conversation to your unified inbox when the customer asks for a person, sounds upset or still isn't helped.

02

What a month costs at three volumes

Botpress counts a conversation as any exchange with at least two messages from the customer in a billing month; five replies are still one conversation. Aivastark counts replies, so this table assumes five standard replies per conversation and prices Aivastark from Starter, the first plan with WhatsApp. Botpress is shown billed yearly, with packs counted the way its pricing-page calculator counts them; because Botpress adds a pack automatically at 95% of the quota, a month that ends near a pack boundary can buy one more.

Conversations per monthAivastarkBotpress, billed yearly
200$39 (Starter, 1,000 of 5,000 credits)$150 (Plus, 250 included)
1,000$39 (Starter, 5,000 of 5,000 credits)$670 (Plus: $150 + 8 packs × $65)
3,000$69 (Starter: $39 + 10,000 credits at $3.00 per 1,000)$1,500 (Team: $750 + 15 packs × $50)

On monthly billing, Botpress Plus is $189 and Team $939. A conversation that runs across two months counts in both, separate anonymous sessions count separately, and the automatic packs can't be switched off without pausing conversations.

FAQ

Aivastark vs Botpress: questions

Is Aivastark cheaper than Botpress?

For most small support teams, yes. Botpress Plus costs $150 a month billed yearly ($189 monthly) for 250 conversations, and each extra 100 costs $65. Aivastark's $39 plan includes 5,000 AI replies, roughly 1,000 conversations at five replies each. Botpress's free plan has 100 conversations; Aivastark's has 300 replies a month, permanently, with no card.

Do I need a developer to use Botpress?

Not for a simple agent, but Botpress is built to be extended: flows in its visual Studio, JavaScript code cards that call your APIs and a TypeScript agent kit. Aivastark needs no flows; it answers from your website, files and FAQs, and its tools (booking, Shopify, MCP servers, API lookups) are switched on from Starter.

Is Botpress still open source?

Not the current product. Botpress v12, the version people self-hosted, has been sunset along with every self-hosted install, and today's Botpress is a hosted platform. Aivastark is hosted too.

Which one works with WhatsApp?

Both. Botpress includes WhatsApp from its Plus plan and connects Telegram, Instagram, Messenger and others through its integration hub. Aivastark answers on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram and email from Starter ($39), and on WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger it transcribes voice notes and answers them in text.
