Botpress Plus is $150 a month billed yearly for 250 conversations; Aivastark's $39 plan has 5,000 replies. Both answer customers with AI on a website and in messaging apps. The difference is how much you build: Botpress is a platform for building agents, in a visual Studio or in TypeScript, while Aivastark is a support agent you set up by pointing it at your website and files. That difference shows in the setup time and in the bill. ## Aivastark or Botpress: which should you choose? Choose Botpress if you have developers and want to build your own agents, in its visual Studio or in code, connect them to your systems and run them on top of Zendesk or Intercom. Choose Aivastark if you want a ready-made support agent that answers from your website and files without building flows, for less: Botpress Plus costs $150 a month billed yearly ($189 monthly) for 250 conversations, plus $65 for each extra 100, while Aivastark's $39 plan includes 5,000 AI replies, roughly 1,000 conversations at five replies each. Aivastark's free plan is permanent and needs no card. **Choose Botpress if:** - You have developers and want to build agents in code or a studio - You want many custom agents wired into your own systems - You want an AI layer on Zendesk or Intercom, with no migration **Choose Aivastark if:** - You want a support agent that works without building flows - You want 5,000 AI replies for $39, not 250 conversations for $150 - You want Shopify order lookups and actions built in ## In four figures - **$39 vs $670**: about 1,000 conversations a month, billed yearly, at five replies each - **$150 / $189**: a month for Botpress Plus, billed yearly / monthly, with 250 conversations - **$0.65**: per extra Botpress conversation on Plus, sold in packs of 100 - **750K**: AI agents built on Botpress, per its homepage ## Side by side | | Aivastark | Botpress | |---|---|---| | Pricing model | Flat monthly price with a credit allowance; on paid plans overage is billed, never a shut-off | Per conversation (any exchange with at least two customer messages in a month), AI usage included up to a quota; packs of 100 more ($65 on Plus, $0.65 a conversation) are added automatically at 95% of the quota | | Entry price | $0 permanent free plan (300 replies), then $12/month (Solo) | A free plan (100 conversations, hard-capped, 3 seats), then Plus at $150/month billed yearly or $189 monthly (250 conversations) | | Typical small-business spend | $39–$129/month depending on volume, sites and seats | $670/month for about 1,000 conversations on Plus billed yearly: $150 plus eight packs of 100 at $65 (our calculation from Botpress's pricing page). Team is $750/month billed yearly ($939 monthly) with 1,500 conversations | | AI price | Included: 1,000–75,000 credits a month by plan (1 per standard reply) | Included: each conversation carries $0.10 of AI usage ($25 a month on Plus, $150 on Team); past that, $10 grants of AI spend are bought at cost | | Removing vendor branding | Badge can be hidden on Scale ($319); custom white-label arrangements on Enterprise, on request | White-label webchat from Plus ($150/month billed yearly) | | Channels | Widget on every plan; Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram and email from Starter ($39) | Webchat on every plan and WhatsApp from Plus; Telegram, Instagram, Messenger, Slack and more through its integration hub (plan limits not published) | | Building the agent | Point it at your website, files and FAQs; no flows to build | A visual Studio of cards and flows, JavaScript code cards that call your APIs, and a TypeScript agent kit for developers | | Agentic tools | From Starter: calendar booking (Google Calendar, Cal.com; Calendly by link), Shopify lookups and confirmed actions, MCP servers and custom API lookups | Your own API calls from code; hub integrations including HubSpot, Salesforce, Zendesk and Intercom; Shopify product sync, with order lookups through third-party Shopify integrations; helpdesk tools over MCP on Enterprise | | Languages | 80+ | Replies in the customer's language; no count published | | Seats | 1–10 by plan | 3 on Free and Plus; unlimited on Team | Botpress figures checked October 2026. Aivastark allowances are counted in credits: a standard reply is 1 credit and a gpt-4o reply 10; images, voice and tool steps add more. ## Where Botpress is the better choice Stated plainly, because a comparison that wins every row is an advert: - Developer depth: a visual Studio, JavaScript code cards that call external APIs, a TypeScript agent kit, and an SDK for publishing your own integrations to its hub. - It can sit on top of the helpdesk you already have: it connects to Zendesk or Intercom by OAuth, with no migration. - Unlimited AI agents on every paid plan, and unlimited seats on Team. - Scale and track record: 750K AI agents built on it and over 1M users in 180+ countries, per its homepage, which also says it is SOC II certified and GDPR compliant. - Voice agents with call routing on Enterprise; Aivastark doesn't answer phone calls. - Enterprise options Aivastark doesn't offer, such as bringing your own LLM and zero data retention. ## Building an agent, or pointing one at your site Botpress is a platform for building conversational agents: you design flows in its visual Studio, add code cards that call your APIs, or write the agent in TypeScript with its agent kit, then deploy it to webchat, WhatsApp and the channels in its hub. That is a strength if you have developers and an unusual process to automate. Aivastark is a finished support agent. You point it at your website, files and FAQs and it answers from them; its tools (booking, Shopify, your own MCP servers and API lookups) are switched on rather than built, from Starter. With handoff switched on (Solo and up), it passes the conversation to your unified inbox when the customer asks for a person, sounds upset or still isn't helped. ## What a month costs at three volumes Botpress counts a conversation as any exchange with at least two messages from the customer in a billing month; five replies are still one conversation. Aivastark counts replies, so this table assumes five standard replies per conversation and prices Aivastark from Starter, the first plan with WhatsApp. Botpress is shown billed yearly, with packs counted the way its pricing-page calculator counts them; because Botpress adds a pack automatically at 95% of the quota, a month that ends near a pack boundary can buy one more. | Conversations per month | Aivastark | Botpress, billed yearly | |---|---|---| | 200 | $39 (Starter, 1,000 of 5,000 credits) | $150 (Plus, 250 included) | | 1,000 | $39 (Starter, 5,000 of 5,000 credits) | $670 (Plus: $150 + 8 packs × $65) | | 3,000 | $69 (Starter: $39 + 10,000 credits at $3.00 per 1,000) | $1,500 (Team: $750 + 15 packs × $50) | On monthly billing, Botpress Plus is $189 and Team $939. A conversation that runs across two months counts in both, separate anonymous sessions count separately, and the automatic packs can't be switched off without pausing conversations. ## Questions ### Is Aivastark cheaper than Botpress? For most small support teams, yes. Botpress Plus costs $150 a month billed yearly ($189 monthly) for 250 conversations, and each extra 100 costs $65. Aivastark's $39 plan includes 5,000 AI replies, roughly 1,000 conversations at five replies each. Botpress's free plan has 100 conversations; Aivastark's has 300 replies a month, permanently, with no card. ### Do I need a developer to use Botpress? Not for a simple agent, but Botpress is built to be extended: flows in its visual Studio, JavaScript code cards that call your APIs and a TypeScript agent kit. Aivastark needs no flows; it answers from your website, files and FAQs, and its tools (booking, Shopify, MCP servers, API lookups) are switched on from Starter. ### Is Botpress still open source? Not the current product. Botpress v12, the version people self-hosted, has been sunset along with every self-hosted install, and today's Botpress is a hosted platform. Aivastark is hosted too. ### Which one works with WhatsApp? Both. Botpress includes WhatsApp from its Plus plan and connects Telegram, Instagram, Messenger and others through its integration hub. Aivastark answers on WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram and email from Starter ($39), and on WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger it transcribes voice notes and answers them in text. ## Sources Botpress figures above were checked in October 2026 (2026-10-26) against Botpress's own pages: - [Botpress pricing (plans, conversations, packs, AI usage, seats)](https://botpress.com/pricing) - [Botpress blog: the May 2026 pricing update](https://botpress.com/blog/pricing-update-may-2026) - [Botpress homepage (agents built, users, security)](https://botpress.com/) - [Botpress Desk (Zendesk and Intercom connection, channels)](https://botpress.com/landing/us/en/desk) - [Botpress Shopify integrations](https://botpress.com/integrations/shopify) - [Botpress docs: Execute Code card](https://botpress.com/docs/studio/concepts/cards/execute-code) - [Botpress docs: agent development kit](https://botpress.com/docs/adk-v2/get-started/introduction) - [Botpress docs: Botpress v12 sunset](https://botpress.com/docs/studio/guides/advanced/v12) - [Botpress Enterprise (voice, MCP, own LLM)](https://botpress.com/enterprise) ## Related - [Aivastark vs Chatbase](https://www.aivastark.com/compare/aivastark-vs-chatbase) - [Aivastark vs Intercom Fin](https://www.aivastark.com/compare/aivastark-vs-intercom-fin) - [Aivastark vs Zendesk](https://www.aivastark.com/compare/aivastark-vs-zendesk) - [Aivastark vs Tidio](https://www.aivastark.com/compare/aivastark-vs-tidio) - [Aivastark vs Gorgias](https://www.aivastark.com/compare/aivastark-vs-gorgias) - [Aivastark vs Crisp](https://www.aivastark.com/compare/aivastark-vs-crisp) - [Aivastark vs Twig](https://www.aivastark.com/compare/aivastark-vs-twig) - [Aivastark vs WATI](https://www.aivastark.com/compare/aivastark-vs-wati) - [Aivastark vs Interakt](https://www.aivastark.com/compare/aivastark-vs-interakt) - [Aivastark vs AiSensy](https://www.aivastark.com/compare/aivastark-vs-aisensy) - [Aivastark vs Manychat](https://www.aivastark.com/compare/aivastark-vs-manychat) - [Website chat widget](https://www.aivastark.com/integrations/chat-widget) - [For SaaS teams](https://www.aivastark.com/industries/saas) ## Pricing Aivastark has 6 public plans.
